Seawall Specialty/Curt Teich Postcard postmarked 1921

.....A group of investors headed by Isaac Kempner built this magnificent hotel in 1911. The Galvez featured 250 rooms and a construction cost estimated between $750,000 and $1,000,000. Later, in 1940 the hotel was bought by W.L.Moody's National Hotels chain. They added on a motel wing on the eastern side in the 1950's. The hotel closed in 1978, was purchased by Houston investors, partially renovated and reopened.
..... George and Cynthia Mitchell purchased the property in 1993 and began an extensive renovation to return it to its original splendor.
