.....This house was originally a gift from James M. Brown as a gift for his daughter when she married Thomas Sweeney. The house was built in 1884 and added to in 1890. The architecture is attributed to Nicholas Clayton. It is one of the more ornate victorian houses in Galveston and is privately owned.
