.....RRoughly located at 23rd and seawall, this building was designed by Nicholas Clayton in 1881. The street railway company constructed it and charged admission for people to see the first electric lights in Texas. The structure burned on August 1,1883. One life was lost, when a musician named Robert Spranger leapt from the burning building.
