Island Of Galveston
Beach Hotel

.....Another Nicholas Clayton design, this hotel stood on the beach at 23rd street, sitting upon 300 cedar pilings.

.....Floor to ceiling windows, extensive wrap around porches, grillwork and gables embellished the building profusely. The roof had red and white stripes painted horizontally. Grand opening was July 4, 1883, although the hotel was a success with the social activities of Galveston, it was never profitable. It was sold and resold, until finally a series of mysterious fires burned it to the ground on July 22nd, 1898.
