.....The Hotel Jean Lafitte at the corner of 21st & Church was built in 1927 by W. L. Moody Jr. His Associated National Hotels chain had hotels across the nation. In Galveston, the Buccaneer, and Miramar Courts were also built by Moody. Today, the Lafitte stands empty, awaiting a new lease on life.
