.....This building housed a bank owned by J. Bertrand Adoue and Joseph Lobit. It was an Nicholas Clayton design but has been altered drastically. Mr. Adoue began his business in Calvert, TX, and later moved his interests to Galveston. Adoue & Lobit were both born in France, and their banking enterprise became one of the largest exchange and European transaction houses in Galveston.
