.....Construction began in the 1870's on this fine Catholic sanctuary by Rev. Lawrence Canon Glynn. The spire on St Patricks was completed in 1899 and reached a height of 220 feet. It was considered one of the tallest in the south. Unfortunately the 1900 Storm destroyed much of the structure. The church was rebuilt, albeit not quite to its original design.
