......Henry Rosenberg left $30,000 to build this building for the orphans of Galveston. It was referred to as the "Island City protestant and Israelitish Orphan Home." The building was dedicated in 1894 and was subsequently damaged in the 1900 storm. Fortunately, none of the children in this home were injured.
