Galveston
Trolleys

.....Galveston was the first city in the state of Texas to acquire electric street cars in 1893.
.....Galveston's public transportation system featured a system of trolleys for years. There were several lines, all with a specific color that designated where they ran. The tracks are still there, buried under the current layers of asphalt and concrete. In some worn spots they can still be seen.
.....Today there are two trolleys, both diesel operated. One runs from the Strand Historical District to the Seawall and back and the other runs around downtown. |
